How we choose

Bright Picks comparisons are built to be genuinely useful and honest about their limits. Here is exactly how the site is put together.

Where the data comes from

Every comparison is generated from a single dataset that is rebuilt automatically on each deploy — no page is typed by hand. The pipeline is designed to pull live product data directly from Amazon's Product Advertising API. Until that API access is active, the site is built from a curated catalogue of well-known, publicly-listed UK products, using structural manufacturer facts (capacity, power, resolution and the like). We never publish scraped Amazon content, invented prices, or fake star ratings.

What our score means

The Bright Picks score is our own editorial rating out of 5. It reflects how well a product balances performance, value, everyday usefulness and how well it suits a typical UK buyer. It is not an Amazon customer rating and it is never influenced by commission — if a cheaper product is the better buy, it ranks higher.

How we pick the shortlist

For each category we focus on the handful of products most people should actually consider, and choose one clear winner for each common need — best overall, best value, best budget and so on — so you can jump straight to the pick that fits you.

Prices and links

We link to Amazon search results rather than a fixed product page. That means a link never lands on a discontinued item, and we never quote a price that has since changed. Always confirm the current price and availability on Amazon before you buy. See our affiliate disclosure for how the links earn.
